Behind the Charm: Stories Behind Our Favorite Designs

At Niche Charms, we’re all about creating jewelry that means something. Every charm on your bracelet tells a little story—and some of our favorites are the ones we made ourselves. These custom Niche Charms are inspired by the people, places, and pop culture that shape us. From NYC icons to nostalgic Y2K moments, here’s what went into creating our most personal designs:

Upper East Side & Upper West Side

These charms are an ode to the neighborhoods that built us. The Niche Shop has locations on both the Upper East Side and Upper West Side, and each one has its own personality and charm (pun intended). These aren't just zip codes—they're home. We wanted to bottle up that energy and wear it with pride.

Pigeon, MetroCard & Blue Coffee Cup

Some people dream of Parisian cafes... we dream of the blue Greek coffee cup from the bodega on the corner. These charms are our love letters to New York City. The pigeon is our unofficial city mascot (chaotic, resilient, and everywhere), and the MetroCard? A rite of passage. If you’ve ever had to swipe three times and still not gotten through, this one’s for you.

I’m a Samantha / Miranda / Carrie / Charlotte

Because some of us grew up watching Sex and the City like it was a lifestyle guide. These Y2K-coded charms are for everyone who moved to NYC with big dreams, great shoes, and a group chat that could rival brunch at Pastis. Whether you’re a Miranda with a plan or a Samantha with a passport, these charms are your SATC soulmates.

Bagel

Not just a carb. A personality. Our everything bagel with cream cheese charm is a tribute to the breakfast we could (and do) eat every day. There’s no wrong time for a New York bagel, and there’s no wrong way to style one on your bracelet.

Passport

We created this charm for the jet-setters, wanderlusters, and anyone whose dream weekend includes a new passport stamp. Inspired by our love of travel and all the adventures that come with it—whether it's hopping on a plane or thrifting across the tri-state.

Lover

We had to include a little nod to our girl Taylor. The “Lover” charm is for the romantics, the daydreamers, the Swifties who know that style is a form of self-expression and every bracelet should have a little sparkle and sentiment.

Fabulous

This one’s inspired by Reagan, our fabulous Upper East Side manager and in-house fashion icon. Her mantra? If you can be fabulous, be fabulous. It's a reminder to walk a little taller and wear whatever makes you feel like that girl.

Niche

It’s more than our name—it’s our whole philosophy. We created this charm to celebrate individuality. Because at the end of the day, your bracelet should reflect your niche. Your vibe, your story, your style. One charm at a time.

Fuck

This one has a backstory: we thrifted a vintage “Fuck” charm and our manager Claire claimed it for herself. Since then, it’s become the most asked-about charm on her bracelet. We had to bring it back. It’s for the girls who get it.

Goat

No, not the farm animal—the Greatest of All Time. This charm is our little trophy moment. Whether it’s for your BFF, your favorite artist, or just yourself (as it should be), wear it like the icon you are.

Peace Sign

Simple, sweet, and full of good vibes. It’s our reminder that even in the chaos of city life, there’s always time to choose peace. Plus, it just looks really cute on a bracelet.

Single AF

Because sometimes being single is the vibe. This charm is for anyone thriving in their own lane, writing their own story, and not waiting for anyone to complete their charm bracelet—or their life.

Extra in Leopard

We don’t believe in “too much.” We believe in more. More sparkle, more color, more fun. This extra charm is for our maximalists, our leopard print lovers, and our “yes I need this in every color” kind of shoppers.

Your charms should say something—so we made sure ours have a lot to say.
