10 Viral Stores in NYC Worth the Hype

If you've spent more than five minutes on TikTok lately, you've probably added at least three new NYC spots to your "must visit" list. Between viral shopping hauls, neighborhood guides, and influencer recommendations, it can be hard to tell what's actually worth making the trip for.

As people who spend a lot of time exploring the city (and maybe a little too much time shopping), we've rounded up 10 NYC stores and spots that genuinely live up to the hype. From iconic vintage destinations to cult-favorite food stops, these are the places we'd recommend even if they never showed up on your FYP.

1. Rebelonging

With a curated collection of vintage designer bags, clothing and shoes, their treasures are thoughtfully sourced. Rebelonging carries rare and hard to find vintage styles that make you feel like you're on an international vintage sourcing adventure.

2. The Niche Shop

Y2K accessories aren't going anywhere, so if you’ve seen italian charm bracelets all over your FYP The Niche Shop is the place to get them. Completely customizable bracelets, with over 100 different charms to choose from this is the perfect place to get a little NYC souvenir or gift for yourself or a loved one.  And the vintage? The Niche Shop has one of the best vintage dooney & bourke and Coach collections in the city

3. French Sole

One of the oldest store fronts on the Upper East Side, French Sole has been around since 1983 and is where all the cool girls go to get their shoes. Notable mentions are Audrey Hepburn, Nicky Hilton, Cindy Crawford and so many more! Their classic ballet flat has definitely been seen around the city, and if you ever spot someone fabulous carrying a leopard print shopping bag with hot pink handles - know it came from here!

4. Housing Works Bookstore

There are housing works all over the city, and while we love each one for their great deals and finds, we completely understand why the SoHo location with the built-in bookstore is so popular. A little shop and coffee date all in one location, what’s better than that. Some of the best coffee table books in the city!

5. Glace

Home of the original NYC s’mores hot chocolate, need we say more? Glace was opened by son of the well known family behind Zabar’s. It has some gorgeous seasonal drinks that all but outshine the ice cream they always have available. Bring a friend who also has a sweet tooth and this is the perfect spot to try on the Upper East Side.

 6. Awoke Vintage

There’s a reason Awoke has so many locations now, they are an NYC staple when it comes to vintage shopping. Full of fun pieces and an insane collection of vintage denim, Awoke is the perfect place to go when you are craving a little retail therapy.

7. 10 Ft By Stella Dallas

The vibes in 10 ft by Stella Dallas are unmatched! With clothing hanging from the ceiling and racks and racks of great finds for a great price, this place will always be worth the Hype. Even celebrities have name dropped this iconic vintage store for its extensive collection.

8. Sushi Counter

Who doesnt love sushi? Sushi counter is an Australian sushi spot with counter servive only. The rolls are thick and delish and the perfect midday pick me up if you need a quick lunch spot! The price is great with each roll being $5 or 3 for $12. They even offer a loyalty program which is always a bonus!

9. Mimi’s

Normally a line in New York can be an immediate no – but we’re here to tell you that mimi’s is definitely worth it. Their frozen yogurt bar has a great selection of unique toppings like fennel pollen, olive oil, and pepitas. They also have enough to curb any sweet tooth you have with a scoop your own cookie dough option. However, this is not an everyday spot. It can get pricy so this spot is definitely a treat!

10. C.O. Bigelow

Located in Greenwich Village is the oldest apothecary in America. It might seem like your average pharmacy but trust us when we say it has it’s customers transported back in time. With their own custom formulas, and you can still buy Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s exact signature headband there. This is a NYC must see.

New York is full of hidden gems, but sometimes the viral spots become popular for a reason. Whether you're planning a shopping day, looking for your next sweet treat, or hunting for the perfect vintage find, these are a few of our favorite places that are absolutely worth adding to your NYC bucket list.

Did we miss one of your favorites? Stop by The Niche Shop and tell us your go-to NYC spot—we're always looking for our next obsession.
